Mom's Letters

 I have some letters from my mom.

She wrote them to me

while she was visiting her sister in Washington.

I take them out every so often.

I seem to pick up something different

each time I read them, the older I get.

This time,

I realized something new.

I had never looked closely

at the envelope's postmark date.

The envelope was postmarked September 1998

Mom knew she was not going to beat her cancer

when she wrote them to me.

Knowing this..

every word takes on a whole new meaning.

That's why she took that trip to WA,

we didn't have money to travel,

but she needed to say goodbye to her sister.

and she died in November 1998.

It makes me wonder what else I will learn

the next time I take them out to read.

And one for February

Slowly but surely...

I'll get us current.

The Civic LIVES.

After years of collecting dust,

Matt got the civic rollin' down the highway

with the help of some handy neighbor friends.

We became the recipients

of a beautiful piano.

A couple at church

are downsizing

and gifted it to us!

The girls love to play it.

I'm excited to get some lessons started.

We had a special visit

with Nana & Papa!

Sara showed Papa

her favorite snow - PJ Masks.

Nana & Papa treated us

to a trip to the Asheboro Zoo.

The zoo lost power

and the large Africa attraction was closed

but we still had fun

with the bears & seals.

Sara made a batch of Wildtree snickerdoodles.

Nana & Papa brought home
some yummy valentine's day cupcakes.

Mr. Mason made Sara some no-bake cookies.

We love our time

with Nana & Papa!

The First Post of 2017

Well, well, well...

I'm just going to pretend

4 months didn't just

get away from me.

We celebrated 2017

at Miss Ashley's house.

The girls were troopers.

Sara liked playing

with their new cat Tink.

 

With morning homemade waffles.

Mmmmm

 

We had a huge dump of snow.

The girls had fun building snowmen,

snow angels, and sledding.

Anna wasn't so sure about it

and needed time to warm up

(pun intended).

Sara had a blast.

Sara is really good at puzzles. 

A new baby was baptized

Sara had a great view.

Our little Anna loves to color

just about everything.
