Tis the Season

for new Christmas stockings!

It was my first attempt at hand sewing (the sparkle ribbon).

First attempt at using a fabric liner and interfacing.

No template was used.

I took apart a cheapie felt stocking
(red stocking on right)
and used that for measurements
while guessing on the size of toe and heal patches.

I have one stocking in-progress for Lucy.
(I ran out of interfacing).

Eight Months

Our little lady is 8 months old today!

Our poor girl is teething and not happy about it.

Her necklace and raspberry are helping.

Along with an occasional dose of Orajel.

She is really good at feeding herself.

She is riding in the front of the shopping buggy.
(This makes mom's arms much less tired.)

She is scooting backwards but not crawling.

She is rolling over a lot.
Mostly in her crib.

She sleeps on her side and tummy on most nights.

She only uses her paci when she sleeps.

She LOVES swimming lessons at the YMCA.
She likes to splash water at the other babies.

She has gone under the water
and was one of the only babies not to cry.

She likes to laugh at her furr sissy, Lucy.

She loves her exercauser.

She enjoys walks/jogs with mom after work.

She is a great sleeper
and makes it 12 hours most nights.

It's hard to believe you're already 8 months!

We love you to the moon and back!

Fifteen Years Today

Mom has been gone 15 years today.

I find myself grieving
for different reasons this year.
I grieve mostly for Sara.

Mom would have been a wonderful Grandma.
Her relationship with Sara
would've been a special one.

I would give anything to have her back.
For everyone who loved her,
but most of all,
for Sara.

Bobcats Game

Matt was treated to a Charlotte Bobcats game.

Miss Kandi watched our little girl
so we could enjoy a date night.

Our seats weren't too bad!

Oh.

Did I forget to mention we were court side?

It was a fun time!

Ruffle Butt

I had to get a picture of Miss Sara

this morning

before I walked her over to Miss Kandi's.

That ruffle butt is TOO cute.

I sure do love this little lady.

Trick or Treat

Sara had a sleepy first Halloween.

She wore her ladybug costume
long enough to get in FaceTime with
Grandma Cindy and Auntie Tasha & Miss Ella.

After her 5pm bottle,
she went down for a nap.
Mommy finally woke her up at 10pm
for her night time bottle.

She missed all the trick or treaters.

Lucy had a terrible Halloween.
It's her least favorite day of the year.

Constant doorbell ringing
and silly costumes
make Lucy very miserable.

Kentucky Trip

It's that time of year for our
annual MEA trip with the Hannans!

 Our 2013 destination:
the Red River Gorge in Kentucky.

Sara was a perfect little traveler!
She only fussed when she was due for a bottle.
Otherwise she played or napped.

Matt packed up the car.
We were able to pack all of Sara's essentials
(and even a few nice-to-have's).

Thank goodness we bought the Enclave!

We usually camp but this year we rented a cabin.
Thank goodness we did,
our trip was mostly rainy and chilly!

The gorge is a popular climber's destination.
There were many arches and short hikes.
Perfect for hiking with a tiny human.

Sara experienced her first chairlift ride.
She did great in the Ergo.

We stopped at Miguels for pizza lunch (highly recommended).
Miguel's is a popular stop and campsite for climbers.

On our rainy days, we had just as much fun!

We enjoyed...
Clue
tic tac toe cribbage
naps
shooting
eating
and visiting.

Our view of the river (and Brent) from our cabin.

Uncle Brent

A few intense games of Clue.
Brent (the rule follower) read the directions
at least a dozen times
to make sure we were playing correctly.

We're already looking forward to MEA 2014!
