We hit the road after work on a Wednesday.
I picked up the girls from daycare
and we drove to Corbin, KY
with a quick stop in Asheville, NC for dinner.
We went to the 2nd largest mall in the nation
for some play time and lunch.
The girls had an absolute BLAST.
Sara said, "MOM, this is the best day EVER!"
We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.
The girls are big fans of cheesecake.

Everyone was in good spirits.
Even during the extra hour it took us
after I got us lost in the mountains.
(wrong turn out of Asheville).
I decided that Interstate 40
must have been backed up
and we were sent on side roads
for a good reason.
We stopped for dinner
at Arby's in Asheville
(before the wrong turn).
We got into Corbin, KY
with two sleepy girls.
We unpacked the car
and got everything up to the room.
After getting into PJs
and some non-stop giggles,
we finally dozed off to sleep.
In the morning,
the girls were excited
for a hotel breakfast
and Disney JR while mom packed.
They were such good helpers
and made the logistics
very easy on mom.
We hit the road for a day
of driving through KY and IN
ending up in Arlington Height's, IL.
The trip went very smooth.
We stopped for lunch
at a McDonalds that advertised
having the largest indoor play area
in the entire state.
It did not disappoint.
We spent a good amount of time
in order to avoid Chicago at rush hour.
We still had some time to waste
so I took the girls to Target
in Rockingham, IN
to find a present for the little boy
who's house we stayed at in Chicago.
We grabbed Arby's to-go
and drove to a rest stop
for an early dinner picnic.
We still arrived in Chicago
at the tail-end of rush hour.
We stayed with my friend, Pam.
She has a boy named Justin
who is Anna's age.
Justin's daycare had a 4th of July parade.
It was a good opportunity to move our legs
after being stuck in the car for so long.

and shared all his toys with the girls.
We ordered Portillos for dinner
and took off early the next morning.

McDonalds.
We witnessed a colorful couple
covered in tattoos and yelling cuss words.
I would guess drugs played a factor.
The girls didn't say a word
and quietly drank their chocolate milk.
Chocolate milk was
the beverage of choice
during our entire trip.
We stopped in Eau Claire
to drop off a wood sign.
The Kabats weren't home
(it was a nice day for a boat ride)
so we were back on the road quickly.
The girls were so happy to see
Daddy, Nana, Papa, and Lucy.
Cousins Blake & Ella
were there to greet us too!
After breakfast, we got back into the car
to head out to Litchfield.
