All Star Race

Daddy won tickets to the
All Star NASCAR race
and took mommy to her
very first race.

Little Big Town played a concert
before the race.

Thankfully,
our seats were in the
air conditioned Lowe's suite.

It was a hot day
and would have been tough
for pregnant mommy.

We had a quick Q&A session
with Jimmie Johnson
who drives the Lowe's 48 car.

We visited pit row
and got pictures up close
of the finish line.

We dropped Sara off at Miss Kandi's
just in time for her afternoon nap.

Snack time at Miss Kandi's
includes pretzels with nutella.

We were told she ate more for dinner
than her friend Mason!

When it was time for bed,
she got to have a sleepover
in Mason's room.

Mason told me she snored a little
and tried to steal his covers.

Bailey Smith

Our very own Bailey
has received national recognition
for the following picture of
Kyle Busch and his wife Samantha!

Bailey has taken all of Sara's milestone pictures.

Newborn

Six months

One year

Hopefully we can keep her for our family photos
for many, many more years.

I'm happy we found her
and can call her "our Bailey"!

Five Kahne

My friends Ashley and Andrea
asked me to run
in the annual Five Kahne.

Ashley's husband, Ryan
is Kasey's personal trainer.
He led everyone in a stretch
and then ran with Kasey.
It was neat to see Ryan "at work".

Matt & Sara came with to cheer.

Andrea had a PB and was a top finisher!
Ashley and I... had a good time.
I met Kasey's mom, Tammy.
She has a name I will remember.

I wanted to finish in under 30
and I did!
No PB but not bad for a mom.

It was a fun day and a fun run.
I'm looking forward to it next year.
Thanks for getting me to sign up, Ashley!

Charlotte Motor Speedway

Last weekend, we toured Charlotte Motor Speedway
with Matt's parents while they were here.

Look closely and you will see Bob.

This place is HUGE.

There was a driving school on the track
and we were able to watch a few cars in action.

It was neat to see how fast they were driving,
knowing it was only a fraction of the speed
the cars are traveling during an actual race.

Unlike other sporting events,
the seats closest to the track are cheaper
than the nosebleed section,
since you can see the entire track from the top.

We were able to ride on the actual track (in a tour van)
where our driver completely stopped on the turn.
The turn is banked at 24 degrees and it was enough
to feel like the van was going to flip.
Once we got to a traveling speed of 80 - 90 mph,
we barely noticed them.

We saw pit row and the winner's circle,
then drove over to the Zmax dragway and the dirt track.

It was all really neat to see in person,
NASCAR fan, or not.
