Christmas 2013

The weekend before Christmas,
Matt, Sara & I had our own little Christmas
where we exchanged gifts at home.

Sara just started crawling the weekend prior
so it was fun to watch her going after the presents.

She needed a little help with the unwrapping
and it's true - she loved the paper and boxes
just as much as her gifts.

We spent the Christmas holiday
in MN with our family.

We successfully smuggled Lucy on the flight.
She only escaped her kennel once.

We spent a couple days in WI
before driving out to Litchfield.

Sara soaked up attention from Grandpa & Grandma.

We had a great visit with Pastor Paul
on Christmas Eve morning.

Last summer, Pastor Paul baptized Sara and
gave her the book "Oh, The Places You'll Go!"
We brought the book back for him to sign for her.
We spent over an hour chatting with him.

During the Christmas Eve church service,
Pastor asked if he could borrow Sara
during the end of the sermon.

Sara enjoyed her time with Pastor Paul.

Jeanne spent Christmas with us
and got some one on one time
with Sara & Lucy.

I caught a cold and fever and was
* literally *
in bed all of Christmas day.

We missed out on Christmas
with the Mallak side because of my cold.

Luckily, Grandpa Boll & Uncle Mike
were able to stop by to see Sara.

Poor Sara caught my cold/fever and was sick
after Christmas through the rest of our trip.

On Friday, I was feeling better so Matt's parents
watched Sara while Matt & I caught
a last minute movie / date night.

We enjoyed our night out
(even though I experienced some personal let downs).
It was a nice reminder of what I'm not missing
by no longer living in my small hometown.

Overall, we had a wonderful Christmas.
Having a baby makes Christmas different
in a very good way.

Lucy realized NC isn't so bad
after doing business in sub zero temps
and snow
all week long.

Swimming Lessons

We started Sara in swimming lessons
through the YMCA once she turned six months old.
This turned out to be a great experience
for all of us.

Sara is a natural!
She even caught the attention of her instructor
who told us that Sara will be a great swimmer.

Matt & I love the water.
We are very pleased to see Sara developing
the same love for swimming.

The shrimp class had her focusing on kicking
and reaching with her hands.
We learned how to enter and exit the water safely.
Every entry beings with 1... 2... 3!

We even made a few new friends!

Sara will be a Kipper or Inia
in the spring/summer.
