Hilton Head Island

We were invited to join

Nana and Papa

on their annual trip to
Hilton Head Island, SC.

Sara tried out her birthday headphones

while watching Frozen.

They were a little big for her head

so I used her taggie to keep them in place.

Nana and Papa had rainy cold weather

during the week they were there.

We had one nice day over the weekend

and spent it out on walks.

We walked the resort grounds

at BlueWater - Spinnaker.

We also drove to

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge

and took a short walk there.

Sara enjoyed all the rocks along the road.

On the rainy days,
we read books and went swimming.

Nana and Papa treated us to yummy seafood

at Skull Creek Boathouse.

Sara enjoyed coloring with Papa.

Daddy enjoyed a bourbon drink

with candied bacon.

On our last rainy day,

we stopped at the Coastal Discovery Museum.

Sara got to meet a turtle named Myrtle,

a few horse shoe crabs,

and saw a bunch of photography.

We headed home on Sunday

right after lunch

and before Sara's nap time.

Sara had a great nap

and watched YouTube kids

on the rest of the drive home.

We picked up Lucy at the Golds.

I think she was glad to have us back.

Sara missed her sissy too.

Snow Days

We had our first snow days

at the end of February.

I think we had close to six inches.

Sara helped daddy make a snowman.

She did a much better job

walking through the snow

than I thought she would.

Sara's friend Payten

came over to play.

Payten wasn't so sure

about the white fluffy stuff.

Mr. Snowman is finished!

Playing in the snow is quite exhausting.

Sara took a nice, long (early) nap.

Sara and I enjoy singing

"deep, deep, deep, deep snow"

from a part in the movie Frozen.

Because of this,

Sara calls any amount of snow

 "deep, deep snow".

Davidson Basketball

Matt found cheap tickets

for a Davidson basketball game

so we took Sara to see her first game.

I think it was her first time

in a big crowd too.

She enjoyed people watching.

She even got into the game.

We cheered as both the red shirts

(Davidson)

and the white shirts (other guys)

made baskets.

She said, "all done basketball."

around half-time and we left.

Conquering Fears

Sara has become a master

on the park slides.

She's been a little too small

up until recently.

Her friend, Gunnar loves the slides

and he goes down them all with no fear.

I can tell she's wanted to join him

but she's been too scared.

Over the weekend,

we took her to the park again

and she was a completely

different girl.

She went down the toddler slides

with absolutely NO hesitation!

She even went down the BIG kid slides
Even though it scared her mommy.

We will definitely need to fit in

more trips to the park

on nice sunny NC days.

We can tell she is so proud of herself

for conquering her fears.

These are such special moments

to witness as a parent.

Sea Life Aquarium

We brought Sara to

Sea Life Aquarium

over the weekend.

She was in awe.

When she gets excited,

she flaps her arms up

up and down really fast.

She did a lot of arm flapping.

Sara was so brave

when it came to touching

the star fish and crab.

Over the weekend,

we also switched Sara's car seat

from rear facing to forward facing.

Sara was teary eyed for a little bit

but got over it quickly

and enjoyed her new vantage point.

We yelled out

"I see a house"

"I see a horse"

"I see a big truck"

all the way to the aquarium.
