Complete Nursery... Check!

Baby S. has a bedroom!

Many thanks to Grandma & Grandpa S.
They donated many hours of hard labor
with limited breaks
to make this nursery vision a reality.

Check out that horizontal yellow stripe!

The curtains were made by Grandma S too.
They ended up being my first lesson
on using a sewing machine.

I went on to create my first solo sewing project,
which is the pillow you see on the glider.
As you can see, it was a success.
Grandma S. must be a teacher by trade.

We are waiting to add wall decorations
until we know whether baby prefers pink or blue.

The lovely quilt on the crib
was created by my MN girlfriends.
Each friend decorated their own square
and Sadie put it all together.

Baby is lucky to have such a beautiful quilt
stitched together with so much love.

More on the quilt in a future blog post.
Stay tuned...

And of course, baby's wardrobe.
The first three months worth anyway.

Lucy got some special time in with the pillow
before it was sent to the baby's room.

Homeowners

We are in the house!

Not only are we in the house,
but we also have furniture.
No more air mattress.
No more camping chairs.

These two pictures were taken within hours of each other.
We have been busy!

We are slowly getting used to our new appliances.

On night one, we used our brand new oven
to cook a frozen pizza.

It was a great success.

Also on night one, we had a couple of lovely surprises.

At dusk, we were entertained with a beautiful light show.
Courtesy of this brilliant insect.

Also at dusk,
We were not itching,
or scratching,
or swatting,
or cursing,
or fleeing
this horrid creature

(aka: the MN state bird).

Any life long Carolinian will tell you they do indeed have mosquitos.
And they do.
I have seen one or two at dusk.

What these Carolinians do not understand,
is the evening assault us Upper Midwesterners experience.

When many a bonfire, evening stroll, or sunset gaze is interrupted.
When it's a race to see who can get inside the fastest.

And God help you
if it takes you longer than two seconds
to close the door.

So far, we are thrilled with this place.

And thankful to once again be homeowners.

Our Final Apartment Weeked!

We are thrilled to be able to say

"This weekend is the last weekend we'll need to spend in our apartment!!!"

We stopped out at the house this morning,
since we can't seem to stay away for more than a day or two.
(We're a little excited.)
Lucy also had some exploring to do.

Here are more pictures before it's cluttered with our furniture and boxes.
