Back to Work

I am officially back to work.
My neighbor Kandi graciously offered
to watch Sara during the day.
For this, I am so incredibly lucky.
Sara is lucky too.

Having Sara right next door
made my first day back a lot easier.
I walked over (in my PJ pants)
and dropped Sara off with Kandi.

She cried.
I left.
Then I cried.

I walked back into my house,
saw her empty swing and play gym
and cried some more.

While sitting at my desk,
I heard phantom Sara cries.
It took all my willpower
to not run into the other room!

Mid-morning, I received a text from Kandi.
"Sara is happy. We are reading."
Thank you, Lord.

This is good for her me both of us.

How many daycare providers
send regular picture texts to mommy?
Not many, I would assume.

During my lunch,
I snuck over and gave Sara her bottle.
Along with many, many kisses.

At the end of the day,
I was giddy with excitement
as I walked over to Kandi's house.
Sara was alert and smiling.

Kandi is wonderful.
She cares for Sara like I care for her.
Like she is her very own.
Sara will grow to have a special bond with her.
Since our family is so far away,
this is such a blessing.

Also, I work from home.
This means no driving anywhere to drop Sara off.
I can stay in my PJ pants.
I can sneak over for kisses anytime.
She can sneak over for mommy time
if she's having a bad day.

Then there is Mason.
Mason is Kandi's son.
Approx 3 years old (I'm guessing).
Sara loves to watch Mason act goofy.
She watches him very intently.
These two are going to get into
a lot of trouble together.
I love that.

Push Present

I received the best push present

from Matt after Sara was born.

Sara & I spend a lot of time in it

on these gorgeous NC spring days.

Head is Down

I had my suspicions.

I've developed a not-so-cute penguin waddle when I walk.

Good job, baby!

Mommy and Daddy are already so proud of you!

We can't wait to meet you!

Hilton Head Island

We were given the opportunity to sneak away last weekend

with Matt's parents to Hilton Head Island, SC.

We had a wonderful time sight seeing and exploring.

The weather was beautiful for February.

We walked the beach at sunset

(well, as much walking as this pregnant body would allow).

We went golfing at Shipyard Golf Club

and were thrilled to see some alligators on the water hazards.

I snapped a few pictures of Bob, Cindy, and Matt

looking for golf balls in the gator-infested waters.

I tried baby's luck on a par 3, hoping to get my first hole-in-one.

No luck.

The baby bump isn't good for my golf swing.

We spent a beautiful afternoon at Harbour Town.

Here we are relaxing on the 18th green.

Zipline Canopy Tour

We recently found a Groupon for a
zipline canopy tour
just across the border in South Carolina.

I had never ziplined and I don't think Matt had either.
We started around 100 ft. above ground
and crossed the Catawba River multiple times.

The tower in the background is what we climbed
to get to the top and start of the course.

That first leap of faith was pretty intense.
Once all our initial jitters were gone,
we had a blast!

One section of the course was setup with ropes.
We had options to either use our hands to pull us along,
use our zip and glide along,
or use the hanging ropes to get across.

Matt used the ropes (the most difficult way across).

I used my hands to pull myself across.

It was a fun adventure that I'm sure we will repeat
(for the discounted Groupon price, of course).
